Welcome to the DonaWrites Website

Hi, I’m Dona McCormack

writer of flash, short,
and long fiction,
occasional enthusiastic literary journal reader & editor,
and trained editor for hire.

Dona McCormack is a psychiatrically disabled writer living in Northeast Ohio with four fuzzbutts, one oversized goldfish-chomping aquatic turtle named Bob, and Michael, her devoted partner, who keeps her alive to write.  When she’s not stabbing a notebook with a pen, Dona stabs thread into fabric (sometimes by design) or plans photos she’ll never post (always by design). She writes in the Realism and Weird/ New Weird genres. You can read her fiction here, here, and here. Find her on Twitter @DonaWrites and Instagram @DonaWritesInsta.

Read about the challenges and small and big wins I encounter as I finish my thesis collection, American Animals, begin research and planning for my next collection, Terminal Tower, and continue to navigate the short fiction markets. I sell stories and makes connections somehow, so come speculate with me how I manage that.

All genres of fiction* at varying levels of depth. My editing page has details.

Several genres* of nonfiction. Check my editing page for restrictions.
